Monday, Middle Son’s transmission went out. This is the same transmission that got replaced eight months ago—and it had a six-month warranty. Sigh.
So Tuesday morning, he drove Diana’s car to work…and called us five minutes later because it had died. The good news was that because Diana works at a technical school, the auto mechanics class changed out the fuel pump and filter for just the cost of parts.
And this whole time, Youngest Daughter’s car is running without the electric power steering assist. The shop we’re using can’t get to it for another two weeks, so she’s getting her arm workout every day.
One of these days, I’m sure we’ll have all of our cars running properly. I hope.
I got most of the first lawn cutting of the season done Saturday. While I was mowing around the fire pit, I ran over something that got hung up in the blades, so that’s on my list to fix Sunday afternoon. But it was nice to get out on the mower for a few hours. I plug in the earbuds and crank up the music and have a pretty good time, usually.
I will admit to becoming a little weary of all of the construction projects. Between the driveway and the bathroom, we’ve had something going since about the first of the year. I couldn’t get upset about the driveway really. No one controls the weather, though maybe we could have waited a month or so to start the project.
It amuses me that we had so many rainy days while that was going on, yet it hasn’t rained in the two or three weeks since he finished.
The bathroom project is wearing on me a little more though. Our contractor only works four or five hours a day. He’s also here almost every day of the week, so we don’t really get a break. And Athena just doesn’t like him for some reason, so she has to be locked up in the sunroom while he’s working. That makes her bark. A bunch.
We’ve been going on the bathroom reno since the first week of March.
It feels much longer. Maybe that’s because it took us so long to finally get the guy we got—almost a month.
But we’re getting close to the end. He’s got some grout work to finish up, then we’re waiting on the glass company. It’ll be nice to have our bathroom back.
I think the next project will be new carpet, but I’m honestly not really in a hurry to start that. Give me a couple of weeks. Please.
