In twelve states, you can watch the cops out in public all you want, but you better not record them.
I wonder how this law in Illinois applies to security cameras? What’s the difference in expectations of privacy or notification there? Many officers are already being recorded, but that recording is the property of the police department. Why should any officer be concerned with a third-party recording of their activities? Are they the only ones who should be allowed to record people’s activities?
