This week’s post will be a smaller one. I’ve been putting a lot of effort into creating a cast list in case everyone wants to keep track of who the kids are. It’s kind of ironic that I’m doing this now that my kids are all grown, but the grandkids are of the age where I want to protect their identities a little bit, so there you go.
I was feverishly working on that post the other day, thinking that it’d be great to have it done before we went out to Friday Night Dinner. Then Middle Son came home and reminded me that it was actually Thursday.
Sigh.
And I was glad to see Michigan win Saturday, but what are we doing about a quarterback who throws three interceptions in one game? Giving up seven third-down conversions, including third-and-18 and third-and-20? This is going to be a long season at this rate. I’ll bet we drop to 20 or lower in the polls.

Why Are So Many Authors Abandoning Speech Marks? And why are we calling them speech marks? It made me think of the way a number of Ogden Newspapers-owned newspapers display quotes online. They use quotation marks, but they also italicize the quote. It’s a little odd.
Writing
Progress continues with Ghost, slowly but steadily. I made about 4,100 words this week, which I know isn’t much for some writers, but it’s major production for me. The thing that’s hanging me up right now is the motivation for the new antagonist who showed up. She’s aggressive and bitchy and wants to hurt people. Well, one particular person, anyway. But she doesn’t care who she hurts in the process, and might actually want to hurt others along the way. I’ve kind of got an idea of why she’s the way she is, but I need to firm that up before I can move much further with the story.
I’m also developing some other blog post ideas, like my Music For a Sunday Afternoon series. I’m still on the fence about those though. From an SEO standpoint (and we all know I’m all about search engine optimization here, he said with just a touch of sarcasm), I should spread my posts out through the week, rather than just dumping them all out on Sunday. So I may switch them to another day, like Music Monday. I feel like I should really do more of those, because as I look back at my stats, some of my more popular posts are the cover songs stuff. Gotta think about branding for those posts, too, maybe without spending hours working up a logo.
