If I’ve got things configured correctly, you should now be able to follow the blog via your favorite Mastodon/Fediverse client. The ActivityPub plugin should be publishing my blog posts to @bobadmin@www.bobmuellerwriter.com. If you comment on the toot, it should show up as a blog comment. I’ll still toot from my regular account, @bobmueller@mastodon.world. I’m just trying to make it easier for people to follow me.
I’m still posting to Twitter, at least for the moment. But with the API pricing stupidity going on over there, I suspect it’s going to become too difficult for me to find an app that lets me schedule posts there. When Hootsuite announced the end of their free plan, I signed up over at SocialChamp, and I really like their UI. But SocialChamp just announced the end of Twitter support on the free plan, because it’d cost them well over $500,000 a year. I get it. I really do. I’m just not able to justify the $300 a year it’d cost me to keep Twitter scheduling there.
Then again, I still have access to my Hootsuite account, at least for the time being. Maybe I’m grandfathered in? Maybe I just jinxed it? Who knows?
And as long as I’m talking about Mastodon stuff, I got an email from MissingLettr that they’ve added Mastodon support. They only added Mastodon.social for now, but they say they’ll be adding other instances as soon as they can. I find it curious that they only support one instance right now. SocialChamp supports any instance, as far as I can tell. But it’s better than nothing, I suppose.
