A friend at Global Affairs posted a rant there that really sums up my feelings quite well as we start gearing up for the next presidential election.
He says in part
As the major news outlets start gearing up for the feeding frenzy that will culminate with the 2012 elections, I find myself disenfranchised more and more with the current political scene. I’m sick and tired of having to vote for the lesser of two evils, and listening to the relentless onslaught of partisan political bullshit has pretty much left me in a state of complete disgust.
This country needs a shake up. And as long as the existing political system remains in place, nothing is going to change. We have politician after politician claiming they’ll make changes for the good, and what we end up with is the same old shit that polarizes this country in such a way that everyone looses sight of the larger picture.
Hyperbole aside (he talks about nuking DC), he makes some excellent points. I just wish there were a way to implement some of his ideas short of revolution. Read the whole thing, and join in the discussion there, or here.
